Shoto was founded in the 1960s when the Medori family began producing handmade shoes in Montegranaro, in the heart of Italy’s Le Marche region – an area renowned for its shoemaking heritage.
What started as a small family workshop has grown into a label celebrated for craftsmanship, quality, and individuality.

Founder Graziano Medori began as a self-employed shoemaker, guided by passion and precision. His work quickly stood out for its classical style, handcrafted finish, and use of the finest natural leathers.
He later opened his first factory, maintaining a strong commitment to artisanal production and timeless design.

Today, the third generation of the Medori family continues the legacy, blending their heritage with modern innovation and aesthetic research.
Each pair of Shoto shoes reflects a deep respect for tradition while embracing a contemporary sense of style.

At LUUKS, we admire Shoto for its fusion of heritage, soul, and innovation.
Every shoe carries the essence of Italian craftsmanship – born from passion, refined through generations, and crafted to last.

Frequently asked questions about Shoto shoes

What makes Shoto shoes so special?

Shoto stands out for its combination of a distinctive fit, exceptional comfort, Italian craftsmanship and unique character. The leather is specially treated and finished by hand, giving it a beautiful, lived-in appearance and great depth of colour. As a result, no two pairs look exactly the same.

How do Shoto shoes fit?

Shoto shoes generally have a regular fit. Sneakers and loafers with a rubber sole usually run a little large; for these models, we often recommend choosing half a size smaller than your usual size. If you are unsure between two sizes, please feel free to contact us. We know the fit of the different Shoto models well.

Why is an extra insole included?

Many Shoto sneakers and loafers with a rubber sole come with an extra insole. This allows you to adjust the fit slightly if the shoe feels a little roomy. It helps the shoe fit more closely without immediately having to choose a smaller size.

What type of feet are Shoto shoes suitable for?

Shoto shoes generally have a regular fit and are suitable for many different foot shapes. What really stands out is their exceptional comfort. Many of our customers who have worn Shoto once return for another pair precisely because of the comfort.

Do Shoto shoes need to be broken in?

No. One of Shoto’s great qualities is that the shoes usually feel comfortable from the very first wear. The soft leather and the way the shoes are made allow them to adapt quickly to the foot. Shoto shoes generally do not require a long break-in period.

Why does every pair of Shoto shoes look slightly different?

Shoto leather is specially treated and largely finished by hand. This creates subtle variations, depth of colour and the characteristic lived-in appearance of the shoes. Some leathers even feature two colours that subtly blend into one another. These variations are an intentional part of the design and make every pair unique.

Are the colours always exactly the same as in the photos?

No. Due to the special treatment of the leather, the colour and nuances may vary slightly from one pair to another. Especially with Shoto’s characteristic multi-toned leathers, one pair may appear slightly lighter, darker or more distressed than another. This is part of the handcrafted character of the brand and makes every pair unique.

Where are Shoto shoes made?

All Shoto shoes are entirely produced in the brand’s own factory in Italy. Here, traditional Italian craftsmanship is combined with innovative techniques to create shoes of exceptional quality.

How should I care for Shoto shoes?

We recommend regularly protecting Shoto shoes with a high-quality protective spray. Avoid using traditional shoe polish, as this can affect the special depth of colour and unique colour combinations of the leather. Only when the leather becomes slightly dry over time do we recommend using a nourishing wax spray. This keeps the leather supple without changing its original appearance.

Are Shoto shoes worth the price?

In our opinion, absolutely. Shoto has been one of our favourite brands for many years. The combination of exceptional Italian craftsmanship, small production runs, high-quality materials, unique design and outstanding comfort makes every shoe special. Because each pair is made with great attention to detail and largely by hand, Shoto shoes belong to the highest segment of Italian footwear.
