Chie Mihara was born in 1968 to Japanese parents in southern Brazil’s bohemian and coloristic Porto Alegre. At the age of 18 she started to study fashion at the design school in Fukuoka,Japan. Upon graduating, she moved to Tokyo and joined Junko Koshino’s workshop. This vanguard designer, whom Chie continues to refer to as sensei, understood that creativity is an exercise in personal identity that does not require exploring far-off worlds. For the next two years, Chie worked as her assistant and pattern designer. later on she moved to New York and enrolled in the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, where she specialized in accessories. Her next step—logical yet unusual—was to work in an orthopedic shoe store, where she learned how to pamper and respect feet, which are oftentimes a tortured afterthought. After working for Charles Jourdan in Paris she moved to Spain and in 2001 she decided to start her own brand. All her shoes are made in Elda (Alicante region). After 20 years Chie is still creating the most comfortable shoes with heels that we knowThis is one of the reasons that all the Chie Mihara shoes are so comfortable. What we like most of her collection: Chie Mihara shoes are funny, feminin, extremely comfortable and all have this recognizable retro look which we like very much at LUUKS
